Here are some tips to using the new system… (these are also on newarmls.com)
FOR THOSE OF YOU WANTING TO SEARCH BY AREA -
Once you are comfortable using the map to search, I recommend drawing a shape (polygon) around your most commonly used area(s), setting the ‘Status’ to active and saving the search. Title the saved search with the area number. It will then show up in the ‘Search’ section of your dashboard. (One click to run from here on out.)
Even if you don’t only want to search actives all the time, the criteria is the easy part to edit – (2 clicks). You mainly want the map shape to be saved.
I’ve found that the John Hall & Associates agents I have helped this with, usually don’t need more than 4-5 areas set up and yesterday and agent told me, “that’s the best thing that happened to me all week!”
A TIP TO HELP WITH SEARCH SPEED -
Always click ‘Update’ before clicking ‘View Results’
This will alert you to errors before you run the search. If the count comes back at 10,000 – you can go back and change the criteria then click ‘Update’ again. Repeat if necessary.
I’ve found it is much faster when *asking* the system to display a smaller number of listings. If you ask for hundreds or thousands by mistake, you have wait a minute (or ten) for them to load until you realize there was a mistake in the criteria. Then you go back and fix it and run the search again.
The ‘Update’ button is your friend.
FULL SEARCH VS. QUICK SEARCH
I use Quick Search 98% of the time. When you need to ‘Add a Field’ that doesn’t show up on the default – you can narrow the results by typing letters into the text box next to ‘Browse’. This limits the amount of time you have to spend hunting for the desired Field – and it’s easy.
Type one letter – look at the narrowed results – type a second letter – look at the even more narrowed results – and so on. Think outside the box when trying to guess what the field name is, but most – err, over half – are easy to guess the name of.
MORE THAN THE ‘GENERIC CARD’
I’ve been asked a couple times how to have more than just the ‘generic card’ option for emails, portals, etc.
Click ‘My Preferences’ – Click ‘My Reports’ – Click ‘New’ – Click ‘Business Card’
Let your creativity flow…
Here’s an example of a business card for a portal…

SHARE CUSTOM QUICK SEARCHES
If you would like to *give* someone a Quick Search template you have created – it’s a simple 4 step process.
Step 1: Build the Quick Search
Step 2: Go to Preferences – My Quick Search – click Give to Someone
Step 3: Select the Office
Step 4: Select the Individual
This is an awesome feature for offices, teams, companies, and friends.
(This also works with reports and views.)

Here’s the list of issues that ARMLS is working on.
TO DO A RADIUS SEARCH FOR A PROPERTY THAT IS NOT LISTED
From the Edit Search tab, click on the Map tab and click on the push-pin icon in the lower right hand corner of the map. Type in the address and it will find the property.
You can then do a Radius Search from the property for comparables.
