DropBox rocks! It’s an extremely useful iPad app for REALTORS®. DropBox allows you to share/store files online, aka in the cloud!
When you install DropBox on your Mac or PC, it creates a custom file folder on your computer that automatically syncs whatever you add to it. All you have to do is save a document in it and that file will be available on your iPad, Droid, iPhone, and online DropBox account. Check it out…
(If video does not display, click here to watch DropBox Demonstration.)
The best part about DropBox, it’s $FREE.99 to get started. Another reason I recommend it for the iPad; it integrates nicely with SignMyPad. You can pull/push documents between the two apps. Click here (on your iPad) for the iTunes link to download.
We so often find ourselves complaining about the extreme heat here – especially around August. The complaints are valid and I have been guilty of comments too – until now. When I see how devastating the weather has been in other parts of the United States, our challenges seem insignificant.
Between the tornadoes, the flooding, the fires and heavy snowfalls, just to mention a few, two and a half months of hot weather is nothing! At least our homes, offices and vehicles are air conditioned.
Richard Mendenhall is a long time REALTOR®. He is also a past president of the Missouri Association of REALTORS® and a past president of the National Association of REALTORS®. He has sent an update on what is happening in his state and is requesting help for the REALTOR® families who have been so severely hurt by the tornadoes since Sunday.
We often want to help others when we know where those dollars are going, and who might be helped. We wanted to forward this to you so you can assist if this is something you feel you would like to do.
I am so thankful we are spared these disasters for the largest part.
Marge Lindsay
The thunder and lightning seem endless. Since midnight it explodes in our ears like mortar shells being fired again and again! And then the rain begins to roar. As it fades we feel hope but it comes back Pounding and pounding until we are numb. And then the words come twittering across the naked night that the Realtors in Joplin have discovered four more of their own have lost their homes last Sunday. The count is now twenty four homeless, one dead and seven still missing. When will it stop? When will it stop?
As we sit safely in our homes our sirens are silent but in Joplin it is not so. In their third night of torture the sirens screamed at them again searing their minds into an unspeakable rawness. But on this night the black twisting monster did not appear again. Can they feel hope? We can only pray! Please let it stop for them. Please let them find peace! Please let it be over for them! Please let the new dawn begin and begin today!
Please! Please! I feel no shame as I plead the words for them again and again – please help our REALTOR® family members rebuild their lives, rebuild their hopes, and rebuild their HOMES. Give them a dime. Give them a dollar! Give them a donation http://www.missourirealtor.org
Truly for them,
Richard Mendenhall, Interim CEO
Ahh the media. How they love Sarah Palin stories. Rumors have been flying around about her possible home purchase in North Scottsdale, Arizona. Whether she did or didn’t isn’t what I’m here to debate. I’d rather share my excitement that when both FOX and ABC news needed a North Scottsdale real estate agent to interview, they called Jeff Sibbach with John Hall & Associates! I’m thinking his market report videos helped prepare him for the big ol’ news camera in his face. Nice work Jeff!

By now you’ve heard that the first ever Win an iPad contest has come and gone. You may not have heard that one REALTOR® in Scottsdale, Scott Farmer, produced a video to prove there was no photoshop-trickery used to create his image. Even though his image didn’t win the prize, the video is so legit I have to pass it along.
As Deidre St. Romain said, “Just goes to show ya…JHA has the craziest, hardest working creative agents in town!”
Nice work Scott, thank you for taking JHA to new heights!

The John Hall & Associates agent contest to Win an iPad went down as a complete success! I had a blast checking out all the entries and like Dru Bloomfield said, “I was checking the intranet as much as facebook and twitter.” One of the primary goals of the contest was to get agents more comfortable with the discussion section on our intranet; mission accomplished!
We had 28 REALTORS® submit a total of 58 entries that included photos of their John Hall & Associates real estate signs. Varieties of themes including real deal marketing images, professional listings, local sceneries, retro and comical designs gave the judges some real tough decisions to make.
The entire corporate office was blown away by the quality of the entries we received. The creativity and originality was AWESOME. Even the photoshop skills that came out to play were impressive. The picture I thought was for sure going to win the whole thing didn’t even place in the top ten; the votes were spread across the board.
As much as I would love to share all the positive comments and feedback received from the judges, I know you’re here for one reason; and like all contests, in the end only one can receive the top prize.
Thank you all for coming together and supporting our contest. I am proud to be apart of this John Hall & Associates community.

Congratulations to Allen and Beth Rebenstorf for taking their post and sign underwater. Very clever marketing piece in today’s real estate environment!
Special thanks to all six judges (one of which asked to remain anonymous):
Wendy Mueller with Old Republic Home Protection
Cynthia Lujan with Old Republic Title
Bryan Jones with Clear Title
Diane Scherer with the Phoenix Association of REALTORS®
Dana Vivier with Vivier Wines

I’ve been asked by a couple of REALTORS® how I made my custom facebook profile picture look like one big image. It was done with a $FREE.99 tool offered by a company you may not expect; Schweppes.
Click here to access the app. Follow the instructions on the screen. READ THEM ALL. They’ve done a great job walking you through every step.
This tool only works for your facebook profile, not your facebook page. There is a difference between the two. You’ll notice if you’re viewing the John Hall & Associates facebook page, the images at the top show up in a different order each time you refresh the page. For that reason an app like this would not work.
Fortunately your facebook profile does not rotate the images, it keeps them in order. However, after you set this up if you are tagged in a new photo it’ll push your custom pictures to the right. When this happens visit your profile, mouse over the new image at the top and click the little X to remove it. It’ll go back to your custom images.
Have fun with this one! If you decide to try it, post a link to your profile in the comments below.
The first ever John Hall & Associates Win an iPad contest has come to a close. Thank you to all the REALTORS® that submitted a photo of your real estate sign. Here are all the entries.
(If photo wall doesn’t display, click the real estate sign link above.)
Jim, Marge, Toni, Diane, Bill, Johanna, Barb, and I (AKA our entire family at corporate) will select the top ten to go before the judges. The judges are going to be several friends of the company that are in no way connected to this contest. I will ask each judge to pick first, second, and third then we will tally the results.
The winner will be announced this Thursday at 4pm. If the winner does not Like the John Hall & Associates facebook page, we’ll move to second, then third.
Good luck to all.
Thanks again to those that participated.

Monday was a gorgeous day at Troon North Golf Club. We had countless volunteers, sponsors, and staff all working together to raise money for MDA. Thank you to all who participated. We raised just under $20,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
